What is Mass Transit?

A: Buses, Trains, Trolleys are some good examples of mass transit

One of the hardest aspects in promoting mass transit is building citizen support. It is amazing how little effort is needed to convince one of the disproportionate amount of people who approach us from Chicago, Germany, or Seattle. They actually try to persuade us to support mass transit!

We quickly recognize the rationalizations people give for not supporting mass transportation; Baton Rouge's size, density, downtown.
Although we may not share the same views of these people, it is good that people are thinking about the issues.
After understanding the gist of the documents below you will be (re)introduced to the economic, environmental, and social benefits of mass transit. Believe us, our stance goes deeper than add more service.

1.Rail-Volution Conference speech - (2003) Jennifer Dorn's, Federal Transit Administration Administrator, speech about the benefits of mass transit. The speech lays a case for mass transit
2.Construction of Transit Based Development - (09.2001) San Jose State Uninversity's Mineta Transportation Institute details the approaches of promoting mass transit. This is a VERY sententious, detailed report, possibly equivalent to +120 printed pages.
3.Increasing Transit Ridership - (01.2002) over 170 pages of factors that can make or break your transit system and why.
